Welcome to English Lit! I am looking forward to getting started soon, but before that I would like to go over a few of my class expectations, rules, and grading procedures.
We will be reading two novels this year as well as writing a research paper that will fulfill the 8th grade graduation requirement. We will be spending approximately 5-7 weeks on each novel.
Assignments and Due Dates
- Assignments for the week will be given each Tuesday in class. These assignments will be due the following week in class. Late papers will be lowered by a whole letter grade. If you cannot be in class, make arrangements to pick up the next week’s homework and to turn in work that is due.
Grading scale
100-90%- A
80-89%- B
70-79%- C
60-69%- D
59%-below- F
Expectations
- Students are expected to attend class every Tuesday with homework completed. I expect everyone to participate in group discussions and be prepared to work in small groups. If you will not be in class, let me know before class begins.
Class Rules
- Be respectful to all.
- No leaving the classroom without permission.
- Come with your work done. No excuses.
- Be on time.
