Welcome to an exciting year of learning with your child!
My name is Annette Steele. Though raised in California, I lived fifteen years in New Jersey with my husband where we worked as volunteers in a mission organization and had our three children. I have been teaching since 1983, first in a small private Christian school in Oakdale, then at a private mission school in New Jersey (where I was also principal for about five years) and finally here at KTL where I am currently enjoying my fifth year. This is also my sixth year as a home schooling mom to my 6th grade daughter. I have another daughter in her freshman year at Modesto Junior College as well as a son who is a sophomore at the Ripon High School (They were both home-schooled through the eighth grade).
I graduated from Modesto Junior College with an Associates of Arts degree transferring to UCSB where I gained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Developmental Psychology. I received my teaching credential from CSU, Stanislaus. Currently I am an educational advisor at KTL as well as the teacher for the 4th grade (“D”) core class. In the past I have also taught the “C” and “E” classes. With the help of Cindy Tyson I have co-created a writing curriculum for the 3rd-6th grade entitled Step by Step writing. Writing is my passion and my dream is to one day write children’s books.
In my classroom I emphasize teamwork and hope to instill a love for reading and learning. My desire is to encourage each child to do his or her best and to believe in himself.
