What a Great Pizza Party!

Thank you to all the parents who helped make our 4th Annual State Testing Pizza Party such a success!  It takes a lot of effort and cooperation to make an event like this go so smoothly.  Great job!

If you haven't, Now's the time...

Since May is the last month of school, if you haven't been able to attend one of our parent meetings, now's the time!  Our 7-12 Snak-n-Yak will be on Tuesday, May 20th from 8:30-9:30, and the K-6 Parent Meeting will be on Wednesday, May 21st at 9:30.  We will be having a parent volunteer appreciation brunch and discussing proposed by-law amendments at each meeting.  If you have any questions, need more information or would like to sign up to bring a dish for the brunch, please contact us at ktlpsac@yahoo.com or leave a message at 634-6467.

Teacher Appreciation...

Tuesday, May 6th is National Teacher Appreciation Day!  To show our appreciation for our KTL teachers, we will be serving a potluck-style lunch at St. Jude's.  If you would like to help provide food or serve during the lunch, please contact us at www.ktlpsac@yahoo.com or by phone at 634-6467.

Our show of appreciation is still in the planning stages for our K-6 teachers.  Watch this spot for more information! 

May is Election Month

The deadline for the nominations has passed, and soon you'll be able to vote for the 2008-2010 PSAC officers!   A list of nominees and a ballot will be included in the May newsletters and the nominee list will be posted in this spot beginning May 1st.  A sealed ballot box will be available during each Open House (May 6th & May 8th) and then will be located at the KTL office.  You may also email your vote to ktlcharterschool@yahoo.com or use snail mail (KTL, PO Box 519, Keyes, 95328).  Ballots must be received no later than Friday, May 16th.  Ballots will be counted by a committee including KTL employees.

Now you can make your voice be heard!  Be sure to visit our Parent Volunteer wikispace to check for volunteer opportunities, sign up to help, make comments on the PSAC page, and join the discussion group!  If you haven't yet been invited to become a member, it's because we don't have your email address.  Just send a quick message to ktlpsac@yahoo.com or ktlcharterschool@yahoo.com and say "I want to wiki" (or something like that!).

K-6 Parents Say:  We want more!

That's right!  We will be collecting box tops and soup labels through May in an ongoing classroom challenge!  This time we will count both the box tops and the labels when figuring the winners.  The winning classroom will receive a class party and the honor of being the spring champions.  Beginning in January, you may deposit your treasure in a designated soup can at the sign-in table.  The soup cans will, of course, have already donated their labels.

Box Tops and other assorted labels...  We collect labels all year long!  We currently collect Box Tops 4 Education (Betty Crocker, General Mills, etc); Campbell's Soup Labels; and most recently, Home Team labels (the Fast Fixin' brand of mostly frozen chicken nuggets, cheeseburgers, meatballs, etc.).  Labels can be brought into the library at any time during regular hours.  A current list of products with Box Tops labels is available in the library.

Parent /Staff Advisory Committee

The PSAC is a committee made up of parents and KTL staff members.  We serve as the legally required site council for K-12, as well as the parent-teacher organization for K-6 and a support committee for the 7-12 student government.

 The Parent/Staff Advisory Committee will meet after the K-4 opening session on the third Wednesday of every month.  We are not sure of our meeting place yet, but we will post it here when we finalize the plans!  We'll have refreshments and discuss things that will happen throughout the year, such as fundraising, teacher support, classroom activities, etc.  We will usually meet for about an hour, but occasionally, scheduled speakers may cause us to get out later.  At most meetings we will have a door prize or two.
