Academic Competition News by Vicki Harmon

COMPETITION CORNER

KTL hosts several academic competitions during the year and the more students who participate, the better!  In the past the elementary students have participated in the Elementary Spelling Bee, Reader's Digest Vocabulary Competition, National Geography Bee and the KTL Academic Jeopardy Competition.   All of these competitions are on Wednesdays so there is no need to register your child; they are offered the opportunity in class the day of the competition.

The junior high group also has participated in several competitions.  These include the Junior High Spelling Bee, the R.D. Vocabulary Competition, the Geography Bee, the National Current Events Competition and the annual Stanislaus County Academic Pentathlon.

If your child is not enrolled in a Core class or the junior high classes and would like to participate in any of these competitions, please contact Vicki Harmon at 634-6467, ext. 413.

COLOR GUARD Color Guard is a great sport/art for boys and girls in 6th to 9th grades.  Last year our guard swept the season, winning first place at all the meets!  Visit the KTL office to see our trophy collection!  We are looking forward to an exciting year!  If your student is interested in being involved in this great group, you can call the KTL office at 634-6467 and speak to Karen Edwards at Ext. #319.
